Mr. Eric J. Coates, a founder member of the Classification Research Group (UK) and a close associate of Late Prof. S. R. Ranganathan. Mr. Coates passed away on 5th December at the ripe age of 101.
His book, Subject Catalogues: Headings and Structure, first published in 1960 by the Library Association, is a classic. The book is still widely used as a textbook in LIS schools around the world.
